The Sport of Falconry - Farhat Tours Activity In Bahrain
Falconry is more than a sports in
Bahrain, here it is treated as an art form, a cultural heritage and an
educational activity that builds endurance and patience. It is an art of sport
that requires concentration, long hours of training and devotion. The falconers
devote themselves each day to train and to take care for the birds so that they
perform well in the end show. The word falconer refers to the trainer or owner
of the bird being trained. The falconer must train a bird of prey to hunt and
fly free.
Falconry, or Hawking, is one of
the favorite sport of Bahrain people. The birds used in falconry are falcons,
hawk, eagles and owls. The sports is actually a display of the training
invested by the trainer over its bird. It is a beautiful sight watching the
falconry and the sport is recognized by UNESO as well.
Recently falconry sport was held
in the month of JAN 17 under the patronage of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al
Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth
Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of

Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain Royal Equestrian and
Endurance Federation (BREEF), a number of Royal Family members and many
